I am sad to write such a scathing review, because truly, the food at Tiger Lily is not bad. In fact it's pretty decent, and healthier than most Chinese I have eated recently in Fort Collins. However, I have just had the most hideous customer service experience ever, and cannot let the evening go by without sharing. We had gotten carry out from Tiger Lily before, and tonight, needed time to get a few things done, so opted for delivery. They charge a ridiculous delivery fee, but I thought, the food's good, so why not? well... We were quoted a time of about 40-45 minutes. A little long, considering we live 10 minutes from there, but figured they were busy, so that was fine. Again, we had a few things to do anyway. An hour went by. Nothing. We called and were told (apparently by the owner, who was having a difficult time communicating clearly with me) our food was in the kitchen. She said they were busy. (At this point we would have come to pick it up if necessary.) Another 45 minutes passed. Still no food, and now the natives (specifically my 8 and 10 year old) were getting restless. We called back. We got a nice young man on the phone, who apologized and said the owner was delivering the order herself, and expected she would offer us some compensation for the delay. Another 10-15 minutes passed. I started to rummage in my kitchen for something to feed my kids. Then our dinner finally arrived, as I was taking some soup out of the microwave. I explained to the owner that almost 2 hours for delivery was unacceptable, and I would appreciate at least the delivery fee removed from my order, if not more. She said no, but I could have some free cheese puffs on my next order. Well, I am not stupid, and I don't even eat those. I asked her to please remove a portion of my bill, and that next time we would just come in or pick up instead of delivery. She refused, stating they were busy and she was sorry, but offering no other compensation. She then even told me that they could have called me to let me know, but they were busy and didn't. Really? What kind of service is that? She then tried to take away my food. When I asked her what she was doing, she said she would just take my food back to the restaurant unless I signed the reciept. She needed to get back, and could not spend any more time talking to me. Reluctantly, I signed my credit card receipt. My kids were hungry. It was not worth the fight. However, I firmly believe that I do not deserve to be treated the way she treated me, and that that behavior is no way to run a business. I am sad to say that we will never go back. The food was good, but the service was so appalling it left a terrible taste in my mouth. I hope one day they learn the meaning of customer service. It makes or breaks a business. And it broke it for me tonight. I am done with Tiger Lily. Not because the food is bad, but because of the way I was treated this evening.

I used to work near the restaurant and it was always the go to Chinese place. The food here is good and the meats seem of high quality. When dining in their service lacks depending on who is waiting on you but they've always been friendly. I wish they delivered or I lived closer.

Jasmin tea was seriously the best I've had. Then I got the crab cheese rolls and I kid you not, the best ever. The wonton tastes a little like sopapilla but it went to well with the filling. The beef satay and sesame chicken were also wonderful! You will not be disappointed. Also, any white guy who may or may not have made a racist review yesterday (that I just read and was appalled by) is probably not who you want to listen to. Get that chicken.

Do you deliver, or not? I was REALLY looking forward to trying Tiger Lily's food. However, I called at 8:25 and was told that they only deliver when they "aren't just about to close" (they were open for another 35 minutes) and if they "weren't too busy". Wow.

I would give no stars if I could. No rice with almond chicken. Pay extra. No fried noodles with soup. Pay extra. No forks unless you ask. Filthy bathroom. Had to go to mcdonalds to use the restroom

The only reason for not giving five stars is the help behind the counter. The food is excellent, but the boy who answered the phone was incredibly unhelpful. When I arrived and asked to order an appetizer while I waited for my order he basically told me that he was to busy and it would be awhile because he needed to "run credit cards and tables to wait on." Terrible customer service. But I keep coming back for that delicious sesame chicken.

This is the best Chinese food in Fort Collins. All white meat chicken, natural ingredients, and healthier options than a lot of Chinese restaurants. Try the Orange chicken!

I think it's hard to mess up Chinese food. I might be wrong, but even the least inspired Chinese I've had (probably Number 1 Chinese Super Buffet in Fort Collins) is something I'll enjoy. That's how I felt about my visit to Tiger Lily's. It's a nice little space in one of the shopping centers on the north side of Elizabeth. Nothing fancy, but nothing that will offend, either. And that's how I felt about the food I got, the Orange Peel Chicken lunch combo. It was fine, nothing I disliked about it. It didn't impress me in any great way, though. It's not bad Chinese, but far from the best I've had in town, which are unfortunately probably not as healthy, if Lily's claims are to be believed. You won't regret your visit, but I wouldn't go out of my way to return.

Well I couldn't tell you if the food was good or bad. Waited 5 min just to get seated just to wait another 15 min just to give up and walk out due to no one their even bothering to ask us for our drink order even though multiple staff members looked as usmany times. They weren't even busy. Now I see why.

Very few places get a 5/5 in my book in FoCo, but they had the best Chinese food I have had in years! Everything tasted fresh, there were slight variations in the dishes from what's typical, and the people were so nice! The only bad thing is their space. I think they would have more people dine in if they gave it an update, but given their location, they'd be better off moving than updating. We did take out and had their local award winning sesame chicken, pepper chicken, and the summer rolls. Every dish was just superb. Loved those summer rolls, mmmm. I can't wait to get their food again!

Obsessed with their food, especially the sesame tofu, veggie fried rice and veggie lo mein. I love how their food is actually fairly healthy for Chinese food and doesn't leave me feeling bad or hungry later. I've tried a few other Chinese places before in foco and once I found tiger lily I haven't had it from anywhere else.

Don't let the decor fool you this place is amazing. Tiger Lily cooks their food in a healthier way than other Chinese food places. Because of this the food isn't like what you would get anywhere else but the sesame chicken is the best I've ever had. The staff is nice and don't hover over you. The only downside other than the decor that is that the temperature tends to be chilling.

After reading the great reviews about this place, I just had to give it a try. I noticed many comments on the decor, which I could care less about. I was excited for the "healthy" version of their Chinese food. There was nothing bad about anything that i had by any means, but it didn't really satisfy my craving for Chinese food. The food was ok but definitely lacking some flavor.

This is the best place in town for Chinese food. The sesame chicken will ruin any allegiance you've ever had to another Chinese restaurant! The wonton soup is flat amazing. I've had most dishes here are you won't find any better in town. I recommend you try the cream cheese puffs... :) they are a unique treat! Now the decor. It looks like a run down Mexican deli. For the love of god please everyone tell Lily (the very very sweet owner) to paint her place. If we all join in on a group Yelp effort we might break through. This place would be a hit for a very minor investment in decorating and paint. In the meanwhile, it's your diamond in the rough.

We were shocked at how not greasy the food was! Even the egg rolls weren't greasy! The sesame chicken and sweat and sour were excellent! The service was friendly but not very knowledgable about the drink menu. I agree with the other reviews that said the decor was lacking. The building needs a lot of updates as do 99% of all Chinese food places. But even though the building is shabby, we will be back because the food was great.

I got some take-out from here recently after reading good reviews about it. I had the wonton soup and egg rolls. The wonton soup comes with more than just the namesake. In addition to pork wontons, it comes with chicken, shrimp, snap peas, carrots, bamboo, broccoli and zucchini, all in a tasty broth. All ingredients were fresh and well prepared. It's large enough for two. The eggrolls have pork and veggie filling and served with sweet plum sauce. They could have been a bit crispier. I appreciate that the plum sauce doesn't have orange dye added to it. My order was ready within 15 minutes of being called in, and the woman who helped me was very friendly and quick to bring me the food.

This is the only Chinese food worth eating in Fort Collins. It is delicious, fresh, and nutritious. No harmful MSG, not soaked in oil, no mystery brown sauce dripping off every item. You actually feel satisfyingly full ( not disgustingly bloated) after you eat. Prices are appropriate for the portion sizes. Enjoy!

Tiger Lilly's early appeal was that they had the only boba (bubble) tea in town. Now that others offer boba - and better boba at that - there's really no reason to go there. The food is uninspired, bland and poorly presented. The multi-grain rice (oxymoron?) was a strange concoction. Piled high on my plate, it was too thick to mix my entree with and eaten alone was an exercise in chewing. None of the four of us at the table had any interest in finishing our meals and the styrofoam to go boxes sat in our fridge until it was clear no one was going to eat them. The restaurant is located in a rundown strip mall near campus and occupies what used to be the original Consuelo's Mexican restaurant. The decor has changed little other than a few Tsingtao paper lanterns randomly hung around the restaurant. Our waiter was nice but in over his head. Frequent apologies are no substitute for good service.

Fear holds us back from experiencing a lot of things in life. Holding us back from telling someone how we feel, from making a leap in a career move, from taking risks. This is so true for our culinary experiences. Fear often holds us back from enjoying a variety of rarely eaten or unfamiliar foods. We're comfortable in our little palate boxes of familiar taste and texture, often times unwilling to break those self-created boundaries. What is it that we're so afraid of tasting? Is an unfamiliar food that scary of a prospect? Is it the disappointment in paying for something you might not like? Is it the unjust idea that an unknown food holds a higher risk of illness? Whatever the case may be, that food fear limits not just the eaters' experiences but the community as well. Here in Fort Collins, we are subject to mainstream restaurant after mainstream restaurant - same style, same taste. Fear of the unknown is holding so many of us back it's about time we break free. When I drove up to Tiger Lily for lunch with the kids and a couple of friends, I felt that fear. The exterior was rundown and sandwiched in between medicinal marijuana shops and a plasma bank on West Elizabeth. Walking through the doors wasn't much better - a disorganized counter of cluttered papers and ads, an outdated atmosphere that was suffocatingly dark and unsettling. A bathroom that I almost regretted letting The Preschooler use. This was not a comfortable place to eat and we hadn't even sat down to order yet. We looked over the menu, intrigued with the claims of healthier cooking techniques that reduce the amount of fat by 30%, ingredients like whole wheat, no artificial colors and preservatives like MSG, and dishes like multi-grain rice. The menu looked fantastic. Taking a deep breath, we ordered. The food at Tiger Lily is beyond delicious. Some dishes weren't mind-blowing, but some were terrific. It was certainly worth gathering up the courage to walk through the unappealing dining room and make our order. We were not disappointed! While the staff were incredibly friendly and sweet (especially with the boys), I think I'd much rather enjoy take-out, eating their food in the comfort of my own home.

My husband and I fly back to CO twice a year from our current residence in Seattle...we tell everyone it's to see family, when in reality, it's all for Tiger Lily's sesame chicken and lettuce wraps. The cheap lunch special with the egg flour soup...I dream of it almost every dreary day here in the rain.......

I can't believe no one has written a review about this place! This is by far the best chinese food I've ever had. The multi-grain rice alone is worth your time and money. They try to be a "healthier" Chinese food restaurant by frying with whole grain batter and only use white meat. The sesame chicken is my favorite meal on the menu, as it comes in big portions, and is served with by far the best sauce ever served with chicken. Like I said before, the multi-grain rice is worth the visit. It is made of different types of rice, grains and oats. It looks a little off putting, but once you taste it, you will never want to have white rice again. It is a great compliment to the sesame chicken, but I've been known to just eat it by itself.

I checked this out because of the previous review. Not bad, the service was good and the food was definitely not your standard watered down Chinese fare. The portions were okay, but the price was a little high. You have the option of substituting multi-grain rice for white rice which was cool. Sesame Chicken and Moo Gai Pan were good. Go for the Pork Spring Roll for an appetizer. I gave it four stars, because I thought it was little to pricey for the portions. Otherwise, good. Check this place out if your in FC.

I wasn't expecting fancy, but I was wanting good tasting Chinese food and that didn't happen. As another review stated, the taste of the food here (from the hot & sour soup, to the greasy, mushy eggroll, to the odd sauced chicken) was just plain off. $8 for lunch is a bit much for this quality of food. I understand now why hardly anyone was there at 12:30 for lunch.

Quality, natural ingredients, and good people! You get what you pay for...great healthy Chinese food, reasonable prices with very nice portions (my wife and I always share a dish and sub the multigrain rice!) If your looking for cheap with large portions go eat that Panda crap;)

People that rated his restaurant poorly have bad taste in food. PERIOD. I just moved from Houston, Texas where there are chinese restaurants galore and was about to give up on finding a good chinese restaurant, until I went to this place. The shrimp fried rice was delish!! The orange peel chicken was yummy!! The egg rolls were the only things were ok, the waiter was super friendly. The decor was dated but who cares, the food made up for it. Overall a great experience, my new chinese food place for sure!

Is it better to list 174 Chinese dishes on your menu, and make all of them with mediocrity, or list only 20 and make them shine? Tiger Lily does the latter, with style. All the chicken is white meat, and never overcooked. All their sauces are homemade, and NONE of them glow in the dark with orange or pink hues....I just cannot stand that. Don't miss the multi-grain rice, it's awesome though it's color and appearance may disturb you until you taste it. Their sesame chicken is the best in town, it took me months of experimenting at home to even come close (hint--their sauce has far less sugar and far more fresh spices than most). At first the Kung Pao triple delight threw me off, it seemed to lack the yin and yang I expect from Chinese food as far as colours, tastes and textures go. Though the Kung Pao spices were great and not day-glo. But nothing crunchy in that dish. Solution? Bring a friend, order one meal of Kung Pao, and one of "stir fried fresh vegetable medley," with multi grain rice on the side. Combine them in traditional Chinese family style. Yes! It was perfect. And you can buy alcohol -- a Tsing Tao beer before dinner followed by a Momokawa Pearl Genshu unfiltered sake (served cold, as it should be, looks like milk!) is the perfect compliment to the food here. The owner is very friendly and does fine with English....but I once made the mistake of not asking her what to do with my takeout of "Summer Crystal Rolls" once I arrived home. They also seemed very expensive. I tried to bake one of them to warm it up -- yuk. But the other -- best served cold, or steamed. An order of $6.49 for 2 of these rolls is a meal in itself, I get it frequently now that I know how to take it home and serve it! Not the cheapest Chinese meal in town. And a hole in the wall right by campus. But highly recommended.

Nothing special AT ALL. my boyfriend and I were craving Chinese food so we looked on yelp for reviews. We settled for this place because it got good reviews and was close to my house. I was really really disappointed. I would have rather gone to panda express...

So utterly disappointed. Read a great review by a local reviewer and was excited to try this place- called ahead for take-out. They told us 20 minutes; after 20 minutes, went to get the food and ended up waiting for almost 40 minutes at the restaurant. When we got home, we discovered they left the crystal rolls out of our order; when we called to inquire, they told us "20 minutes." Seriously? You make customers wait an hour for food you said would be ready in 20 minutes, screw up the order, and unapologetically say "20 minutes" to fix your mistake? We just hung up the phone. We won't be patronizing this restaurant again. The food is not even that exciting; the multigrain rice is delicious, but the fried rice is off, the egg drop soup has WAY too much white pepper... the other dishes are good, but not exceptional, and we paid way too much money to have this lackluster of an experience.

Not a fan... My sister loves this place, I think that it's overrated. The food was average, but the restaurant decor is dated and fits the tacky Asian restaurant motif.

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.
Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.
There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.

Tiger Lily doesn't taste like every other Chinese restaurant in town because they don't cook like every other Chinese restaurant in town. They make their own sauces instead of buying processed junk, and they focus on healthy ingredients and cooking techniques. That's a good thing in my opinion. Since going gluten free several years ago, I've had to miss out on Chinese food, and that makes me sad. The owner at Tiger Lily is kind enough to let me substitute their white wine sauce in my favorite pork and black mushroom dish, making it gluten free. I always order a boba tea to go with my food. The only reason for giving 4 stars (I'd give 4 1/2 if it were an option) is that we've had a couple of very long waits for our take-out, and the dining room itself is not very inviting, with outdated décor.

I absolutely LOVE tiger lily. Their Sesame Chicken and Orange Chicken are the best in Fort Collins in my opinion, hand down!

Looks good so far. Really good NY Style Chinese food, large portions.

I grew up around Chinese food and tried the food in Hong Kong. This is one of the best authentic tasting Chinese food I have had in Northern Colorado.

The reviews by college students said this was the best Asian in town...not in my opinion. I was extremely disappointed in my meal, I will not go back again.
